My husband ( who is my very best friend in the world) bought me a new Chinchilla for Christmas to add to our family. We drove to Albany, NY to pick him up yesterday. Thank you Jessica for this precious boy!!!
He is an adorable black velvet boy. I wanted to think of a Christmas name for him, Since he is black I had to go with…………Coal!
I know he will be as sweet as a sugar plum, but I couldn’t resist! He originated from Canada, and now lives in the Pumpkin Patch.
Coal will eventually be bred with our beautiful black velvet girl named Tessa.
We are so happy to have Coal in our family! Pictures of Coal soon!!!!

Mmmmmm the house has the sweet smell of apple wood baking in the oven!!!! I just picked a fresh batch of apple wood, and grape vine.
After the apple wood is picked from one of our organic apple trees it is scrubbed, boiled and then baked on a low heat until it is Chinchillalicious!!!!! It will be a happy night around here as they nibble on the delicious wood, which is great for their teeth and taste buds!
Would your Chinchilla like to try some?
We are offering an Apple Wood Chew Stick Special!!!!
Order a sample pack of our sticks in assorted sizes, for only $5.00!!!!
Free shipping if you live far, if you are local, we can arrange to meet!
Your Chinchilla will LOVE you for it!!!
Stop by our shop and order some, or email me and tell me to get some ready for you!

Please post ideas on this page for using household items for Chinchillas and small animals, instead of filling up our landfills. This is also a great place to post things you no longer have use for, but someone else might like ( cages, water bottles, bowls, etc……..)
Although wood and pumice stone are essential to keep Chinchilla chompers from getting to long, cardboard provides them with lots of entertainment and fun. Here are some ideas:
*Cylinder shaped oatmeal containers make great play tunnels for Chinchillas. They have a blast rolling them around, climbing in and out, and of course chewing!
*Toilet paper and paper towel cardboard rolls maybe garbage to us, but not to our little buddies. Chinchillas love to play with them and chew them, don’t throw them out they make a great Chin. toy!
*Shoe boxes and tissue boxes make great hiding houses!
*Rabbits LOVE to rip up old phone books!

The Chinchillas are all enjoying looking out the windows. They know something new is going on outside, but the snow looks very mysterious to them. They are happy to be inside munching on their Timothy Hay and watching the snow fall!
Me, I LOVE it!!!!!! It is a stay home snowday, and my sons 10th birthday. What a great birthday gift, a day off of school! He will have a few other gifts to open!
Have a wonderful day, and get out there and play in the snow, or make some hot chocolate and just enjoy the beauty of it!

In a time when our environment is in danger, as well as our ecomony, Pumpkin Patch is trying to do our part , to help in our own little way.
For anyone on our local area ( Saugerties, Kingston, NewPaltz, Catskill, Albany, etc…) we will be offering some of our small animal supplies in re-usable, re-fillable containers. This will save you money, and cause less waste in our landfills.
As always, whether it is a Chinchilla, or supplies, when ever possible we will do our best to meet you and save you some fuel.
If we all work together, what a nicer world we will have!!!!

If you know of a bunny or Chinchilla in need please contact me. I will do anything I can to help. Recently I took in two English Angora rabbits found tossed away on the side of the road. They still require hours of brushing to remove the heavy matting they were found with. Can you imagine being so cruel, leaving them on the side of the road?!
It is my feeling that anyone breeding animals, should give back to their breed and dedicate themselves to rescue as well.
We are serious about helping any Chinchilla or Rabbit ( as long as we have room) have a warm, safe, place to stay while waiting for it’s forever home.
If you know of a small animal needing help, please contact us and we will do our best.
